Our Team
Our team wasn’t perfect. We weren’t the best and we sure were nothing special.
We were just some kids who loved to play basketball. We got together and played
every weekend. It didn’t matter to us if you were good or if you were not that
great. If you were friendly and could get along with all of us then you were
welcome on our team.
There was Findley. He had been born with a condition that made him have to be in
a wheelchair.
There was Mikey. He was only about 4’10” and he weighed about 70 pounds.
There was Cathy. She was super tall. I would say at least 6 foot.
There was Dom. He was not in the best physical shape. He liked to eat – a lot.
There was Crane. He was the smart one. Someone said they heard his mom say he
was a genius.
Then there was me. I didn’t have any special characteristics. I was like the
leader, I guess. Everyone came to me with their questions and problems. I
organized the games and just was in charge.
We were definitely not your typical basketball team, but we loved to play and
that was all that mattered to us.
