Practice Makes Perfect
Not everyone is born to play basketball. Some people have to work really hard at
it. I once heard that a very famous professional basketball player was told he
should give up and try a different game because he would never be any good. All
it really takes it a lot of practice to get good and just like that pro, I put
in the work. I knew it would take a lot of practice, so everyday for two years I
practiced at the local rec center. I would shoot from every angle on the curt I
could. I was working towards the day when I got ‘nothing but net’ every time I
shot.
Eventually, through all my hard work I was able to reach my goal. Once I
accomplished it, I tried out for the basketball team. I was so proud of myself
when I scored on the court during games. I knew that without my dedication and
hard, though, I would never have been able to do it. Not everyone is born to
play basketball – some people have to work at it.
