Basketball Lessons

Basketball is more than a game. It is a learning experience. When I think about everything I have learned from basketball I can’t help but be very glad I played the sport. I’ve played it for as long as I can remember. We had a hoop at home, one at the local rec center and I played in school.

Basketball taught me many things. It taught me how to spell words like ‘horse’. It taught me about boundaries. It taught me how to treat others. It taught me about eye-hand coordination.

It wasn’t just what I learned from the game itself, though. I learned a lot from my coach in high school, too. He taught me to never give up. He taught me that foul language will never fix a problem. He taught me that too many fouls could mean sitting the bench for a couple games.

I learned a lot from basketball. I take those lessons with me and use them in my everyday life. I am really glad I played the game.
