When I was in high school our basketball team was the best the school had ever
seen. More people came out to our games then they did for the boy’s team. We
were on top of the world. That was the best year of my life.
Now I’m stuck in an office five days a week for 40 or more hours. I am stressed
out and worn out. I feel like crawling into a warm bath and heading for bed as
soon as I get home; but tonight my son Jeff’s basketball hoop caught my eye as I
was pulling in the driveway. I decided it was time to see if I still had it in
me.
As I bounced the ball I remembered the feeling I had the night of the
championship game as I stood before the hoop and made that game winning shot. I
aimed and shot. I watched as the ball went swoosh – nothing but net. I still
have it.
